چکیده

A three-dimensional (3D) non-hydrostatic model is presented for the simulation of dam-break flows. The solves Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes equations using projection method. 3D computational grids are constructed from a two-dimensional horizontal unstructured mesh by adding layers in vertical direction. Based on grid system, advection terms discretized momentum conservative scheme. proposed validated with several physical experiments. agreement between results and experimental data generally good, which demonstrates capability to resolve flows over flat uneven bottoms complex geometries. Moreover, efficiency evaluated flow Comparisons corresponding quasi-3D shallow water also performed, confirm role effects

On the modeling and simulation of non-hydrostatic dam break flows

The numerical simulation of three-dimensional dam break flows is discussed. A non-hydrostatic numerical model for free-surface flows is considered, which is based on the incompressible Navier-Stokes equations coupled with a volume-of-fluid approach. The numerical results obtained for a variety of benchmark problems show the validity of the numerical approach, in comparison with other numerical ...

non-hydrostatic, three-dimensional Boussinesq equations

We study the three-dimensional, incompressible, non-hydrostatic Boussinesq fluid equations, which are applicable to the dynamics of the oceans and atmosphere. These equations describe the interplay between velocity shear and buoyancy gradients in a rotating frame, which are represented in a hierarchy of dynamical variables Ωm(t) for 1 ≤ m < ∞, identified as the sum of the L-norms of these varia...

A non-linear observer for unsteady three-dimensional flows

A method is proposed to estimate the velocity field of an unsteady flow using a limited number of flow measurements. The method is based on a non-linear low-dimensional model of the flow and on expanding the velocity field in terms of empirical basis functions. The main idea is to impose that the coefficients of the modal expansion of the velocity field give the best approximation to the availa...

A Mathematical Model for Forecasting the Dam-Break Flood Routing Process of a Landslide Dam

Once a landslide dam bursts, its reservoir discharges quickly in a flood which will cause catastrophic damage to life and property downstream. For a specific landslide dam, the peak flow rate and the evolution of downstream flood are influenced by the shape and size of the dike breach when dam-break occurs. According to the general nature of landslide dams and field observations of dike-breach ...

Three-dimensional characteristic approach for incompressible thermo-flows and influence of artificial compressibility parameter

In this paper the characteristics of unsteady three-dimensional incompressible flows with heat transfer are obtained along with artificial compressibility of Chorin. At first, compatibility equations and pseudo characteristics for three-dimensional flows are derived from five governing equations (continuity equation, Momentum equations in three directions, and energy equation) and then results ...
